Scholarship details
Portland State Univesity offers two scholarships for the academic year of 2022-2023 for the international students who want to take advantage of their higher education at an undergraduate degree level in the USA. The International Achievement Scholarship and the International Elite and Diversity Awards will be offered to outstanding international students who can demonstrate their academic excellence and encourage them to pursue their education with the help of the scholarship awards.
PSU also awards students hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships each year through the PSU Scholarship Universe. Applications for PSU scholarships are accepted from October 1 to February 1 each year and must be submitted separately from the application form. The scholarships are awarded once a year. PSU scholarship applications are used to award general (non-degree-specific) scholarships as well as program-specific, undergraduate, and college scholarships. Not all scholarships are awarded through a PSU application.
What are the Two Scholarships Offered by the Portland State University?
The International Achievement Scholarship
The International Achievement Scholarship is intended for the freshman and incoming undergraduate students who are international and can demonstrate their academic excellence. The international students who will be admitted to the university will be automatically reviewed for their academic achievements and will automatically be considered for the scholarship at the time of their admission.
Eligibility
- The interested students must have a good academic standing with an equivalent grade point of at least 3.5 or equivalent to the grading system in the USA.
- The students who are currently being sponsored by any other state, government, or private sector are not eligible to apply for the scholarship, an specific university-level partnership can be excluded from the eligibility criteria.
- The International Achievement Scholarship can only accept the newly admitted students, the students who are currently enrolled at the university will not be accepted for the scholarship application or be able to request an added awards after the admission process.
- For the tuition classification purpose of status, the applicants must be classified as international students or non-residents in the USA.
- Students who have not met the TOEFL/English language requirements are eligible for this scholarship; However, scholarship activation will be suspended until the ESL limit is lifted and the student is fully eligible for unrestricted enrollment in academic studies.
Keep in mind that there will be no required separate application for the scholarship award, the eligible applicants will be automatically considered.
International Achievement Scholarship Award
The scholarship award amount will be ranging from $3,000 to up to $10,000 to be awarded annually.
The International Elite Scholar and Diversity Award
The International Achievement Scholarship is intended for the freshman and incoming undergraduate students who are international and can demonstrate their academic excellence. The international students who will be admitted to the university will be automatically reviewed for their academic achievements and will automatically be considered for the scholarship at the time of their admission.

Application Process
There will be no separate application required for the two International Scholarships offered by the University. The students must be admitted and be qualified for the entry requirements for the new undergraduate student admissions.

Scholarship Notification
