The Lakes Area Manufacturers Alliance Scholarship ended by creating a foundation for emerging manufacturing majors who were just entering the field. The partnership with the Initiative Foundation was officially formed in the year of 2017was in direct response to a need identified by the Central Minnesota manufacturing business community. Since the business community was looking to invite more students into the manufacturing world, this foundation was set up to establish a funding opportunity to enlist bright minds.

Manufacturers are experiencing a growth in the demand for employees with the knowledge and skills to work in a manufacturing environment. The official goal is to actively engage and build collaboration among manufacturing, education, and students, and to provide a better future for manufacturers. All in all, this does help to create interest and awareness of manufacturing careers and will help build and train the next generation workforce.

This is also to show that manufacturing can both be a vocation as well as a destined full-term career that students can build from. This is a huge reason the manufacturing community was created in Minnesota. Since there are multiple international corporations looking for qualified manufacturers with adequate schooling and expertise, this is ideal for specific students.

There are a number of restrictions in place for students to keep their $1,000 prize. It is clearly stated that the $1,000 can only be used for tuition, textbooks, or any education-related fees. If the $1,000 is used for anything outside of education, the scholarship will be revoked and anything the student has used of the $1,000 will need to be repaid.

The $1,000 will only be awarded to the individual after they have completed their first semester at the chosen accredited college in Minnesota. The student will need to show their midterms and they must have been able to bring up their 2.0-grade point average to above 2.5. at this time.

The amount can be split up to pay different education fees. The $1,000 will be deposited electronically into the student’s college bank account. The student will be able to ask about what can be paid off via admissions or financial council at the university they are attending.

Other scholarships to look out for would consist of Technology, Finance, Agriculture, and, Manufacturing which tends to go hand-in-hand. There are multiple categories that work with manufacturing and work with multiple colleges around the United States and internationally.
