Public universities in Jordan offer affordable tuition fees for Jordanian citizens, with an average cost of around JOD 1,000-1,500 (USD 1,400-2,100) per academic year for undergraduate programs. For graduate programs, the average cost is around JOD 1,500-2,500 (USD 2,100-3,500) per academic year. However, the tuition fees for international students are generally higher, ranging from around JOD 2,000-4,000 (USD 2,800-5,600) per academic year for undergraduate programs, and JOD 4,000-6,000 (USD 5,600-8,400) per academic year for graduate programs.

Cost of Living in Jordan

The cost of housing in Jordan varies depending on the location and type of accommodation. Renting a one-bedroom apartment in the city center can cost around JOD 300-450 (USD 420-630) per month, while renting a one-bedroom apartment outside the city center can cost around JOD 200-300 (USD 280-420) per month. Buying an apartment in the city center can cost around JOD 1,500-2,500 (USD 2,100-3,500) per square meter.

Main Languages Spoken in Jordan

The official language of Jordan is Modern Standard Arabic. This is the language of education, government, and formal communication in the country. However, many Jordanians also speak different dialects of Arabic, which can vary depending on the region of the country. The most widely spoken dialects are Levantine Arabic, which is spoken in the north and west of Jordan, and Bedouin Arabic, which is spoken in the eastern desert regions.

English is also widely spoken in Jordan, particularly in urban areas and among the younger generations. It is often used in business, tourism, and international communication.
