Scholarship details
Established in 2009, the scholarship has been awarded to a wide range of students in various law schools throughout the country and has provided $40,000 in total financial assistance. Past recipients include Ryan Duffy and Kevin Battle, both of whom are now practicing attorneys at Miller Johnson.
Eligibility & Requirements
- Students of color (African American, Asian, Hispanic,
Native American, Pacific Islander). - Accepted to or presently attending an accredited law school within the US with a permanent residence in Michigan.
- Must demonstrate financial need.
- Have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Be a citizen of the United States to apply.
How to Apply
Application information is provided to all law schools in Michigan and schools throughout the nation as recommended. This scholarship is a means to ensure access to careers in law is open and available to all interested in choosing a vocation in the legal industry.
Reward
Deadline & Annual
The scholarship is provided annually to a student of an ethnic minority from Michigan accepted to or attending an accredited law school in the United States intending to earn a law degree. Scholarship recipients are selected by the Grand Rapids Community Foundation (GRCF) and applicants follow the GRCF process.
The application window will open on December 1, 2021.
