The University of Minnesota has a great reputation for inviting transfer students to its many different campuses. And yes, students will be able to choose from which campus they would like their accommodation located on. Which is an added bonus.

The University of Minnesota happens to be known for its innovative and discovery-based acknowledgments. Allowing the university to climb up as one of the best science engineering centers in the United States. Since the main language in Minnesota is English, there are a number of majors available in several different languages as well.

The type of academics that are available at the University of Minnesota include:

  • Veterinary Medicine

This is not a complete list of majors and programs available to study at the University of Minnesota, students who are interested in attending the university should look through what classes are available before sending in their admissions application.

Eligibility

  • Eligible students must submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be deemed within the eligibility criteria.
  • Students that are interested must be resident of Minnesota, however, there are transfer scholarships available for international students.
  • Being a resident only means that the student is registered to live in the state, they do not have to be a natural citizen of that state or country.
  • Applicants must enroll as full-time students.
  • Students will have to come from a family who has an annual income of $100,000 or more.
  • Must be a first-time degree student, for example, a Master’s or a Doctorate student cannot apply to this scholarship opportunity.
  • Students must acquire 13 credits in their first year of college.

Requirements

The two biggest requirements is that the student must have filled out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and enrolled as a full-time student. If the student is enrolled as a part-time student, they are deemed non-eligible for this specific scholarship option.

Any applicant that becomes a recipient should follow the guidelines and rules that are provided by the university website.

How to Apply

When it comes to applying for the U Promise Scholarship, students will be happy to know that they do not need to fill out a separate application. Instead, the only thing students need to do is apply for admission and apply for Financial Aid. Afterward, the student’s admission application is automatically entered into the U Promise Scholarship.

So students will not find an application PDF on the University of Minnesota website, because there is no separate independent application to fill out.

Reward – Extra Benefits

For the reward portion of this scholarship, students can expect anywhere from $300 to just over $4,000 each academic year. That does cover the next four years however, this does depend on the campus.

The $4,000 will go towards their tuition coverage and the $4,000 for the next 4 years will continue to go towards their tuition coverage.

The amount may go to other fees that are presented.

Deadline Time Line

The deadline time line follows the same university admissions deadline time frames. Since this is for new students and transfer students, which means that transfer students do have a different deadline date available.

For most students the deadline date is January 1, 2023. At this date, students will hear by no later than March 31, 2023 that they have been accepted or rejected by admissions.

There is no mention that the deadline time can be extended to a separate date for any one student, which means that if the student misses the deadline they will need to apply in the next year to be deemed eligible.

Open Submission Window Time Frame

The open submission window time frame happens in the Winter season, and that is the Winter of 2022 until January 1, 2023 which is the deadline date.

Students should contact the contact page that is located in the contact section of this article. Along with singing up for the university newsletter to stay up-to-date with what the university has going on and if any dates may change for any reason.

Annual and Renewable Scholarship Options

This is an annual scholarship that is renewable, but the student does not have to send in extra applications for this renewed option. This happens naturally after a student becomes a recipient. So technically, this is a renewable scholarship.

Here at Pick a Scholarship we offer a full range scholarship database for all students looking for varying degree levels. While we provide exact information for each scholarship application and when the deadlines/open submission windows are held. We offer a contact section on each post where the admissions of the university or the director of a private sponsor can be reached to give more information or details.

All applicants should consult the e-mail address if a question has not been answered. Beforehand to check the university ‘FAQs’ page to see if anything can be answered right away.

All students should check with the university website about any delays or changes to the open submission window or deadline time frame. This is the best way to see if anything needs to reviewed or changed before submitting their application.

Anyone can sign up to receive a university website newsletters to stay updated on the latest information.

Any student that is unsure about the rules and guidelines that are meant to be followed by the recipient should consult the website link provided.

We also suggest that all applicants read through the information guideline page that is available through the original scholarship link. This way the individual will be able to navigate the website correctly and identify the real scholarship online application. So far there has been no mention of any delay’s for this opportunity or any cancellations.
