The practice of avoiding taxes by multinational corporations (MNCs) has developed into a national disgrace as well as a global issue that affects tax justice, transparency, and economic efficiency. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to a doctoral student so that they can investigate the optimal solution to the problem of tax avoidance faced by MNCs as well as governments. This will be accomplished by conducting an efficient cost-benefit analysis and developing a cutting-edge interdisciplinary machine-learning technique. The anticipated results will include significant advances in boosting economic growth through the reform of tax policy in Australia, as well as globally through the comparison of tax evasion practices in different countries.

About the Scholarship Provider:

Western Sydney University has a growing international reputation for academic excellence and socially relevant research. To this end, we are a research-driven institution with an eye toward the world at large. We are in the top two percentile of universities worldwide. At Western Sydney University, we are empowering tomorrow’s global citizens, leaders, and change-makers. With an eye toward getting our students ready for the real world, we’ve designed a curriculum that reflects the needs of today’s society. In today’s fast-paced and ever-evolving world, we acknowledge that institutions do not have a monopoly on information or education. Both within the University community and in the greater region of Western Sydney, which has one of Australia’s most diverse populations, Western Sydney University places a high value on diversity and acceptance of different cultures. The institution has flourished as a center of opportunity, diversity, and innovation because to its international student body. Western students will become a part of a dynamic, welcoming, and culturally varied community where they can create friends and connections that will last a lifetime.

We partner with business and industry experts to create curriculum that addresses the needs of businesses, prepares students for emerging occupations, and addresses the challenges of a global workforce. We were the first to implement a model of collaborative education that includes key stakeholders in the learning process. Our approach acknowledges the importance of context for learning. Instead, we offer a variety of professional and community-based employment experiences, as well as traditional classroom-based and online learning. The graduates of Western Sydney University are well-prepared to enter the workforce. The University’s focus on career preparation has earned it a perfect score of five stars in the employability category of the QS World University Rankings. Internships, volunteer opportunities, and paid work experience are all available to Western students, allowing them to gain valuable professional experience and develop marketable skills. Sydney, one of the most livable cities in the world, is a beautiful metropolis that Western students can explore. Warm summers and mild winters make the city’s many beaches a popular tourist destination year-round in Sydney.

Sydney’s year-round art, music, culinary, theater, cinema, and design events have helped put the city on the global cultural map, and students will not want to miss them. Our Western Growth plan is co-creating cities and revolutionary educational infrastructure across the region through cooperation with business, government, and higher education institutions, and is reinventing the University’s campus network. In the heart of Parramatta and Liverpool, two of Western Sydney’s important development districts, the University of Western Sydney has established two world-class, technology-enabled vertical campuses; in 2022, a third high-rise campus will open in Bankstown city.

These new campuses better connect the University to the economic and civic life of Western Sydney, as well as provide students and faculty with state-of-the-art facilities for learning, teaching, and research. Over 100 departments, 3,300 faculty and staff, and 45,000 international students call Western Sydney University home. Western Sydney is home to five major campuses: Bankstown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, and Penrith. Even while each campus in Western Sydney offers a slightly different learning atmosphere, the area as a whole has a warm and welcoming sense of community that makes it a great spot to get an education and make new friends. Western Sydney allows its exchange and study abroad students the flexibility to take classes at any of its campuses. Our campuses range from the suburbs to the heart of the city, each offering its own distinct atmosphere for learning. Business (accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), computing, engineering, and mathematics, education, humanities, communication arts, law, medicine, nursing, and midwifery, science, health, and social sciences, and psychology are just some of the fields covered by our nine schools.
